Mikael Örn is the CEO at Malmsten Inc., the US division of Malmsten AB, a Swedish manufacturer of swimming pool and water polo equipment. Malmsten is the exclusive Official FINA and Olympic Games Supplier for Swimming racing lanes and Water Polo goals and has supplied equipment to 10 Olympic Games including Tokyo in 2021.
Mikael is a retired IBM Executive where he held many roles in Engineering, DevOps and Software Development.
He is a current board member and founding member of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce in Arizona.
Mikael won a Bronze medal in the 1984 Olympic Games competing for Sweden in the 400m freestyle relay team. He swam at Arizona State University, where he was the 1983 NCAA champion in the 200-yard freestyle. Mikael was the Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year in 1983 and was inducted into the ASU Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
He received his BSE and MS degrees from ASU. Mikael and his wife, Kit, live in Fountain Hills, AZ. Kit and Mikael just celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary. Their son, Anders, lives with his family in Mesa, AZ. Their daughter, Kaila, lives in Raleigh, NC.
The Örn family owns a working cattle ranch in eastern Arizona which is wonderful place to get back to basics.
